CODED

July-December

Throughout 2009, Blacktown Arts Centre is developing and presenting the CODED Youth Arts initiative. CODED explores urban modes of expression, including graffiti, mobile phone and zine cultures. It unpacks the complexity of codes evident in Youth culture to promote the transmission and interpretation of creative ideas and actions.

From July to December, a series of workshops for young people are being presented by key Western Sydney contemporary artists. Temporary public art will also hit the streets of Blacktown as artists transform the Blacktown landscape through digital projections and ephemeral creative works.

CODED is a long-term initiative exploring the development of youth arts practice in the Western Sydney region through workshops, ephemeral public art, talks and exhibitions.

To get involved, join the CODED mailing list. Phone 9839 6558 or email artscentre@blacktown.nsw.gov.au
