Friday 17 June, 7.30pm

Cost: Free, bookings essential.

Venue: Bowman Hall, Campbell St Blacktown

HIP HOP VS OPERA - POLYOPERA takes Mozart's Don Giovanni to Western Sydney, deconstructing gender, identity, performance and culture against the backdrop of a hip hop battle. Hip Hop producer Morganics will join musical forces with an Opera Australia singer, theatre/film director Laura Scrivano, a female MC and DJ to re-imagine Don Giovanni for the YouTube generation. It will culminate in three 8-minute films to be put on YouTube at the end of June.

This exciting project is a collaboration between Opera Australia and PolyArtistry in partnership with Blacktown Arts Centre. PolyOpera is a multi-artform experimental project aimed at breaking down some of the conventional barriers to opera through the use of social media, live events, workshops and film.
