The Riot Act
RIOT ACT
A new Australian theatre work
2, 3, 4 July
The Riot Act is a poetic investigation into the forces and opinions that shape communities experiencing social unrest. Writer and director Karen Therese has worked with youth workers, social workers, police and residents. Her work tells the personal stories of the community's and media's response to three highly publicised riots across Sydney: Bidwill [1983], Redfern [2003] and Macquarie Fields [2004].
The Blacktown Arts Centre and the Campbelltown Arts Centre have supported the production through a series of creative development residencies between 2007 - 2009.
